Made with the same steel as our Army model, we´ve equipped our Barbecue FireSteel with a sturdy oak handle to make it a perfect fire-starter for the Saturday afternoon patio party. Its impressive sparks are also great for lighting gas stoves at home and in the wild.

Originally developed for the Swedish Department of Defence, Swedish Firesteel is a flash of genius. Its 3,000C spark makes fire building easy in any weather, at any altitude. Used by a number of armies around the world, Swedish FireSteel's dependability has already made it a favourite of survival experts, hunters, fishermen and campers. It has also found its way into cabins and backyards as a fool-proof way to light stoves and gas-barbecues. Durable - lasts for from 1,500, 3,000 to 12,000 strikes.

To use it all you need to do is take a small quantity of dry grass, Maya Dust, paper or any other flammable material and build them up into a pile. Then position the striker against the FireSteel. (Text facing upwards.). Now use your thumb to press FIRMLY and SLOWLY downwards. Make sure to stop before hitting the ground.
